At the beginning of the game we don't choose a class, but as the game progresses we can develop our character in three skill trees corresponding to classic archetypes: warrior, rogue and mage. We start the adventure by creating a hero in quite an extensive wizard which allows to choose one of the four available races (Almain, Dokkalfar, Ljosalfar and Varani) and modify different parts of the body. Despite the ability to make decisions in dialogues, modeled on the Mass Effect series, the story presented in the game is mainly linear.
In Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning we are dealing with a classic "from zero to hero" story and saving the world from evil. The story begins with the death of the main character, later resurrected with the help of the Well of Souls. The action of the game takes place in the fantasy land of Amalur, divided into several regions. After the acquisition of the rights to the brand by THQ Nordic in September 2018, the preparation of the refreshed version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was commissioned to a small studio Kaiko Games, which has cooperated in porting such productions as Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition and Legend of Kay: Anniversary Edition. Among the co-creators were such names as Ken Rolston (lead designer, known for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion) or Todd McFarlane (responsible for the art layer, associated mainly as the creator of the comic book character Spawn). The 2012 original was developed under the aegis of Electronic Arts by two now-defunct development teams: 38 Studios and Big Huge Games.
